How to Collect a System Dump from a Storage Array with No SVP

Objective

Collect dump data for problem determination for the Global Support Center.

Environment

  • VSP G130 G/F350 G/F370 G/F700 G/F900
  • VSP E Series
  • VSP Block One Series
  • No SVP or SVP2
  • Storage Advisor Embedded (HSAE)
  • Maintenance Utility

Procedure

  1. Launch the Maintenance Utility
     TIP: If the Maintenance Utility for a controller is not responding, collect the System Dump from the alternate controller. 

  2. In the Maintenance Utility, navigate to the menu, select System Management, and then choose Download System Dump.
    • The default dump type for Global Support Analysis is System Dump.

  3. Select OK in the confirmation window

  4. Choose a location to save the dump file. The file name to save is hdcp_dump.dmp.

  5. Wait several minutes until a message confirms the dump has completed downloading.

  6. Recommended: rename the file to include the date and serial number
    1. Example 20241126_123456_hdcp_dump.dmp
  7. Transfer the file to the Global Support Center to the Upload Facility (TUF)

Additional Notes

The file to collect and transfer is named hdcp_dump.dmp.
